Dispersal on behalf of Messrs R & M J Lee, Harwood Shield
Following the sale of Store Cattle the company conducted the much anticipated herd dispersal on behalf of Messrs R & M J Lee, Harwood Shield. An outstanding entry of manily homebred, spring calving suckler cows were presented and peaked at £3800 for a 2019 born second calving, British Blue cross cow with an April born Limousin cross steer calf at foot, by the locally renowned, locally sourced and proven show calf breeding ‘Harlow Bower’, Non Pedigree Limousin Bull.
A brace followed at £3200 each; Both Limousin cross Mothers-the first a 2014 born cow with her April born British Blue cross steer calf at foot; the second a 2017 born beast with her April born British Blue cross heifer calf at foot.
Two more changed hands at £3100- both calved heifers, the first a British Blue cross, the second a Limousin cross; both running with April born Limousin cross steer calves by ‘Little Erie’ The Harlow Bower Bull.
A smashing catalogue of thirty-two outfits were all successfully traded and levelled at a pleasing £2530 per lot, whilst five incalf heifer; all highly sought after by local and distant buyers, went on to peak at £2250 and averaged £2002.
Maiden Yearling Heifers displaying tremendous Harwood Shield style topped at £1440 for a pair and returned at £1393.
The dispersal calculated with the sale of the 2021 born Stock Bull ‘Hightown Spectre’, despite having no claves yet on the ground the bull which looked exceptionally well straight from work exceeded costs to cap a great days trading for Messrs Lee, selling to £5880 to another noted Cumbrian based high-end suckled calf breeder.

A small additional offering of breeding cattle went under the hammer, topping at £3600 for a smart Limousin cross heifer with a ¾ bred Limousin cross calf at foot from Messrs Foley Bros, Mirlaw House and at £1650 for a nicely put together home-bred buller by the Limousin Bull from Colleen Macdonald, Light Birks
