Marketing of Organic Livestock at Hexham Mart In the past few year Northumberland has seen a sharp increase in the number of farmers moving to the production of organic livestock. In response to this, Hexham & Northern Marts has seen a need to provide a competitive, cost efficient, reliable market for all classes of organic stock. Over the past year there has been a strong demand for organic primestock. Hexham & Northern Direct has sold over 4,600 lambs & hoggs with prices topping £73/head and 89 hoggs from Messrs Lee Lumbylaw averaging £64.41 (avg weight 19.04kg) In order to improve the marketing opportunities for organic producers in the region Hexham Mart will offer classes for organic stock at their seasonal sales of breeding and store stock.
